If you don\u2019t submit your self-determined hospice cap report to CGS\u00a0<\/strong>by the Feb. 28 deadline, the Medicare Administrative Contractor will start withholding your reimbursement March 7, the MAC warns in a message to providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it may not be easy to get back off that withhold right away. \u201cCGS processes SD Cap submissions on a First In First Out basis,\u201d the MAC says. \u201cIf your agency is put on withhold, [the] possibility exists you could stay on withhold for several days after we receive your submission, depending on [the] number in front of you to be reviewed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuspension of Medicare payments\u201d resulting from failing to report your cap \u201ccan have a serious impact on cash flow,\u201d warns Sandy McCleve <\/strong>withAdvantage Healthcare Consulting Cost Report & Reimbursement <\/strong>in Utah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t forget: <\/strong>Any overpayments \u201cmust be remitted back to the MAC upon filing,\u201d McCleve reminds providers. But you can apply for an extended repayment schedule (ERS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why \u201cwe recommend securing the PS&R data at the earliest available date to minimize any current liability that may exist,\u201d says consulting firm The Health Group <\/strong>in Morgantown, West Virginia, in its electronic newsletter. \u201cIf your hospice has a cap liability, you have until February 28,2019 to submit the cap Report and the ERS Request even if you secured the PS&R data on January 4, 2019,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s another good reason to download your data ASAP too, McCleve points out: \u201cAssess your agency\u2019s situation now, so there are no surprises when you go to file,\u201d he advises. \u201cYou will then have adequate time to gather all the necessary information together to apply for and file an ERS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
