My coworkers are giving me a hard time about this \u2014 do I really need to change?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Subscriber<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Answer:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>Yes, you really do need to change. Here are some good reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The October ICD-10 2018 update is the last time Medicare will provide General Equivalence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mappings (GEMs) to help you convert ICD-9 to ICD-10.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ICD-10 provides much more detail than ICD-9.
